A swine flu information line is now available, members of the public can call 0800 1 513 513.

The Department of Health has launched an advertising campaign promoting 2 simple steps to good hygiene to help combat the threat of swine flu in the UK. 2 simple measures: Wash your hands regularly. This will reduce the chance of transferring any type of infection. 'Catch it, bin it, kill it' is the message. Cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing into a tissue and dispose.
Advice for anyone returning from an affected area If you have recently travelled from the affected areas and are showing signs of flu-like symptoms i.e. fever accompanied by one or more of a cough, sore throat, headache and muscle aches, you are advised not to go to your GP practice. To limit contact with others stay at home and call your doctor or contact NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 or via www.nhs.uk
